Position Overview
As a Patient Care Technician II, you will play a vital role in assisting healthcare professionals in delivering essential patient care services. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks aimed at addressing the health requirements of patients, including conducting physical assessments, performing routine tests, and administering intravenous therapy as necessary, all in alignment with established protocols and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver prompt medical interventions to address patient needs in emergency and urgent care settings.
    • Prepare patients for examinations and ensure the availability of necessary equipment.
    • Adhere to policies regarding restraints and forensic procedures.
    • Schedule and coordinate diagnostic tests as prescribed.
    • Safely transport patients in a timely manner and manage their personal belongings.
  • Implement patient care plans by:
    • Contributing to daily patient management.
    • Executing delegated routine care tasks.
    • Documenting vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
    • Collecting and processing specimens (urine, stool, sputum) and maintaining fluid intake/output records.
    • Providing comfort measures and monitoring patient responses to interventions.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, collaborating with hospital security and law enforcement to ensure a secure environment.
  • Administer IV therapy, assessing fluid and electrolyte balance, and managing complications related to infusion therapy.
  • Conduct diagnostic EKGs, ensuring accurate placement of electrodes and documentation of results.
  • Maintain a courteous and responsive demeanor while interacting with patients and staff, promoting satisfaction and effective communication.
  • Work alongside forensic teams to uphold safety protocols, providing crisis intervention as needed.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as answering calls, managing patient charts, and scheduling appointments.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient care and activities.
  • Assist in the safe transportation of patients and medical materials across departments.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Support the maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
  • Provide coverage for team members during absences as required.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an approved EMT program with IV certification, or equivalent training.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations.
  • Valid EMT or paramedic license required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Minimum of six months of relevant experience.
  • Successful completion of unit-specific competencies.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and carrying.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, and crawling.
  • Constant communication and coordination skills required.
