Position Overview:

The Custodial Services Associate plays a vital role within The Kennedy Center's Janitorial Services Team, ensuring a pristine and sanitized environment for our clients. This position requires the individual to independently maintain cleanliness in designated areas of various facilities, utilizing industry-standard techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough cleaning of various spaces, including restrooms, office environments, communal areas, staircases, windows, shelving, doors, auditoriums, classrooms, kitchens, and cafeterias, as outlined in the scope of work.
  • Execute cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, buffing floors, stripping and waxing surfaces, disposing of waste and recyclables, and sanitizing commonly used appliances and surfaces.
  • Perform exterior maintenance duties, which may involve snow removal, sanding walkways, and managing outdoor waste.
  • Operate specialized cleaning equipment, including scrubbers, burnishers, and power washers.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with contract specifications.
  • Manage and restock cleaning supplies and materials as needed.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to meet contractual obligations.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in custodial or maintenance roles.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments and under varying weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Strong initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Possession of a vehicle may be required for travel to different work sites, depending on assignment.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push equipment and materials, with frequent lifting of up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
