Job Overview

Position Summary: The Quality Control Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring that products meet the established standards of quality throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections during the production process to monitor quality and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Examine materials for quality assurance and identify any defects, ensuring optimal use of resources to enhance productivity.
  • Verify that parts, assemblies, and manufacturing processes align with the specifications outlined in technical drawings.
  • Document and report any discrepancies found in drawings, bills of materials, and processes to the relevant departments for corrective action.
  • Maintain a comprehensive rejection list and follow up on unresolved issues until they are addressed.
  • Ensure the quality of finished products through thorough inspections.
  • Inspect incoming materials from suppliers prior to their use in production.
  • Test and measure products using various tools such as tape measures and calipers.
  • Record inspection results, including pass/fail ratings.
  • Generate detailed inspection reports to communicate findings.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace while optimizing space utilization.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform inspections in accordance with applicable Bills of Materials (BOM) and work instructions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Stay updated with current work instructions and revisions.
  • Work safely and effectively, collaborating respectfully with colleagues.
  • Be available for overtime as needed.
  • Meet production goals and schedules consistently.
  • Communicate work status and any issues to quality leads or supervisors.
  • Comply with quality service standards and regulations.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Ability to interpret technical blueprints.
  • Familiarity with metric measurement systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience using a torque wrench.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to review and initiate Non-Conformance procedures.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of inspection criteria for welding, riveting, and sealing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics.
  • Familiarity with chassis and suspension assembly processes.
  • Experience with paint inspection techniques.
  • Knowledge of air leak and performance testing methods.

Work Environment:

This position is typically performed in a production area, which may involve exposure to high noise levels and varying temperatures. Safety equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection, and appropriate footwear is required. The role may also involve exposure to various fluids and fumes.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires regular standing, frequent use of hands for handling tools, and occasional lifting of weights up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision and depth perception.
