Position Summary: The Quality Control Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that products meet the highest standards of quality throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections during the production phase to monitor quality and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Evaluate materials for quality, identifying any defects to optimize productivity.
- Verify parts, assemblies, and manufacturing processes against established specifications.
- Document discrepancies found in drawings, bills of materials, and processes, reporting them to the relevant departments for resolution.
- Maintain an updated rejection list, following up on unresolved issues until they are addressed.
- Ensure the quality of all manufactured products meets company standards.
- Inspect incoming materials from suppliers prior to their use in production.
- Examine components, subassemblies, assemblies, and finished products.
- Utilize appropriate tools to test, measure, and analyze products, ensuring accuracy.
- Record inspection results, noting pass/fail outcomes.
- Generate detailed inspection reports to communicate findings.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, optimizing the use of available space.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail in all tasks.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform inspections in accordance with the applicable Bill of Materials (BOM) and work instructions.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Stay updated with current work instructions and revisions.
- Work safely and effectively, collaborating professionally with colleagues.
- Be available for overtime as necessary.
- Meet or exceed production goals in a timely manner.
- Comply with quality standards and procedures.
- Keep quality supervisors informed about work status and any issues encountered.
- Demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Familiarity with metric measurement systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using a torque wrench and other inspection tools.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to initiate and review Non-Conformance procedures.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of inspection criteria for welding, riveting, and sealing processes.
- Ability to read schematics related to wiring and airline systems.
- Familiarity with chassis and suspension assembly processes.
- Experience with paint inspection and identifying defects.
- Knowledge of various testing methods including air leak and performance audits.
Work Environment:
The role involves exposure to typical production environments, including noise and varying temperatures. Safety equipment is required, and adherence to safety protocols is essential.
Physical Requirements:
Regular standing, lifting, and handling of materials is required. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds may be necessary, along with specific vision capabilities.
