Position Overview

As a leading firm in environmental services, Stantec is seeking a dedicated Sustainable Energy Environmental Consultant to enhance our Environmental Assessment, Permitting, and Compliance Business Line. This role focuses on the evaluation and authorization of renewable energy projects, including electric transmission and battery storage systems. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in managing proposals, overseeing environmental impact assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and review of various environmental impact documents in compliance with state and federal regulations, including Initial Studies and Environmental Impact Reports.
  • Oversee the development of technical studies and field surveys that inform environmental documentation.
  • Manage the submission of environmental permit applications to federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Direct project teams, ensuring effective management of tasks, deliverables, and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Maintain a high level of direct project utilization.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in CEQA/NEPA processes with a strong background in environmental planning.
  • Expertise in permitting for large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar and wind.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess information and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to coordinate and document technical studies and field surveys.
  • Experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and community involvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
Education and Experience
  • A degree in a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in environmental permitting for energy projects.
  • Familiarity with federal and state permitting processes and environmental regulations.
  • Training or certifications in relevant environmental fields are advantageous.
