The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in delivering HR support and spearheading HR initiatives for Newell Brands GSC - Distribution and Transportation.

In partnership with the Distribution team and leaders at the Distribution Center, this role assesses the talent requirements of the Distribution division and formulates effective strategies.

The Human Resource Generalist will oversee the daily operations of the Human Resource (HR) department, which includes recruitment and interviewing processes, managing compensation, benefits, and leave, as well as enforcing company policies and practices.


Key Responsibilities:
Ensures compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments, which may encompass safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and various certifications.

Facilitates the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring processes for qualified candidates; collaborates with departmental managers to identify necessary skills and competencies for open positions.

Conducts or arranges background checks and verifies employee eligibility.
Implements orientation programs for new hires and temporary staff, along with employee recognition initiatives.

Manages routine tasks essential for executing human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave management, disciplinary actions, disputes, performance management, and training and development.

Addresses employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive issues to the appropriate personnel.
Participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Maintains adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, along with recommended best practices; regularly reviews policies and practices to ensure compliance.

Stays informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and advancements in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
Bilingual skills are preferred.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
A minimum of two years of experience in human resource management is essential.
SHRM-CP certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
Must be capable of accessing and navigating various departments within the Distribution Center facilities.
