Position Title: Chief of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology

Job Summary

The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is actively seeking a qualified faculty member to assume the role of Chief of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. This position is available at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a robust track record of exceptional clinical capabilities, engagement in research initiatives, and a commitment to resident education.

The selected individual will be expected to develop a prominent research program in basic science or clinical/translational studies pertinent to Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

A mid-career professional with the ability to lead and expand this evolving division, particularly in pediatric cellular therapeutics and transplant programs, is preferred.


Key Responsibilities

The Chief will oversee the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division, managing faculty, physician extenders, and administrative personnel.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying growth opportunities for clinical, research, and educational initiatives within the division.
  • Establishing and monitoring division-specific research, educational, and clinical objectives.
  • Creating individualized development plans for faculty members, outlining their goals and expectations in education, research, and clinical practice.
  • Conducting annual performance evaluations for faculty, providing constructive feedback based on their development plans.
  • Ensuring compliance with clinical practice standards and fiscal responsibility within the division.
  • Enhancing patient access and maintaining operational schedules.
  • Guaranteeing adherence to university and regulatory policies.

Patient Care Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, comprehensive pediatric care aimed at enhancing patient safety and satisfaction.

Engage in clinical duties, including on-call responsibilities, and meet performance metrics as outlined by the department.

Foster strong professional relationships with referring physicians to ensure effective communication and collaboration.


Teaching and Instruction

Provide educational experiences for residents, medical students, and staff, including clinical supervision and didactic instruction.

Maintain teaching evaluation scores that meet or exceed departmental standards.

Participate actively in departmental meetings and educational rounds.


Qualifications

Applicants must possess an MD/DO/MBBS degree and be board certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. A valid State of Georgia medical license and federal DEA registration are required.

For the Associate Professor rank, candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent. For the Professor rank, candidates should have at least five years at the Associate Professor level or equivalent.
