Clinical Faculty Position - Hematology/Oncology and Hospital Medicine

Job Summary

The Medical College of Georgia is seeking two faculty members at various ranks for a non-tenure track role within the Division of Hospital Medicine. These professionals will collaborate with nursing staff, care coordinators, nutritionists, physician assistants, and other healthcare disciplines to establish best practice protocols. The role includes supervising and educating physician assistants and nurse practitioners, while engaging actively in the Division of Hospital Medicine. Candidates should possess a keen interest in solid and hematologic malignancies, with a focus on quality improvement, operational research, and educational initiatives within a prominent academic medical framework. This position offers extensive collaborative opportunities across multiple disciplines, fostering an exceptional environment for research aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and safety, streamlining patient care processes, and standardizing practices in acute care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality medical care in an inpatient setting.
  • Prescribe medications and educate patients on their proper use.
  • Uphold quality, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Stay informed about accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services relevant to the specialty.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.


Qualifications

Candidates must be either (i) board certified in Internal Medicine by the AOBIM/ABIM or (ii) board eligible, actively pursuing certification, and achieve board certification within five years of completing their training. BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Assistant Professor: Entry-level faculty with appropriate postgraduate training.

Associate Professor: Mid-level faculty with a minimum of five years at the Assistant Professor rank or equivalent experience.

Professor: Senior faculty with at least five years at the Associate Professor rank or comparable experience.

All candidates must meet the faculty employment qualifications set forth by USG institutions, including:
  • Compliance with SACSCOC accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity and competency in assigned duties.
  • Successful experience, with waivers for those new to academia who meet other criteria.
  • Desirable personal qualities assessed through interviews and references.


Compensation and Benefits

This position is full-time and year-round. Salaries are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, subject to fund availability. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waivers, and wellness options. Faculty may also be eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program after six months of successful employment.

Advancement through faculty ranks is based on the annual Promotion and Tenure process, with eligibility typically every five years.
