Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in English 5-12
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Additional licensure in other content areas is advantageous
  • Understanding of institutional and structural racism and its effects on underserved communities
  • Familiarity with current educational legislation and regulations
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, support staff, and families to advocate for students
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in an urban educational setting is preferred
  • Ability to meet the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice
Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated English Language Arts educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess experience in lesson planning, assessment, and utilizing data to inform instruction while providing consistent feedback to students regarding their academic progress. Familiarity with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks is essential for designing effective, standards-based lessons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement standards-aligned lessons with clear objectives
  • Create engaging learning experiences for students from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Design differentiated instruction to cater to the varied needs of all students, including modifications for Special Education and English Learners
  • Utilize a range of assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Foster a motivating, safe, and supportive classroom environment
  • Adapt ELA lessons for individual, small group, and remedial instruction as needed
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students to enhance teaching and learning
  • Embrace a growth mindset in all educational practices
  • Establish and uphold standards of student behavior
  • Engage in professional development activities at both school and departmental levels
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design, lesson planning, and assessment strategies
  • Leverage technology to enhance student learning both in and out of the classroom
Employment Terms
  • As negotiated with the Lynn School Committee and Lynn Teachers Union
  • 180 instructional days per year
