Key Responsibilities
Classroom Duties
Ensure that every student feels affirmed, valued, and challenged on a daily basis. Create a positive and secure learning atmosphere. Develop and internalize rigorous and engaging lesson plans, utilizing provided curricula and resources. When necessary, design and internalize lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments aligned with academic standards. Establish specific, ambitious growth objectives for all students and utilize available resources to help them achieve these goals. Innovate best practices to deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all students. Implement school-wide or grade-level student culture systems and proactive classroom management strategies. Regularly assess student work and academic data to refine lessons and instructional practices. Maintain accurate student records and communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.School and Professional Responsibilities
Obtain necessary certifications and endorsements with support from KIPP DC within the first year of employment. Engage in professional development opportunities, including pre-service training and ongoing training throughout the academic year. Take ownership of professional growth by seeking and implementing feedback from coaches and collaborating with colleagues. Participate in assigned duties such as classroom coverage and student supervision. Build strong relationships with families through active participation in school events and consistent communication. Collaborate with grade-level teams to address common challenges and implement effective systems for all students. Maintain dependable attendance and communicate proactively regarding any attendance issues.General Requirements
Uphold KIPP DC's Code of Conduct by acting with integrity and taking personal responsibility. Participate in regional professional development and community events as required. Demonstrate the ability to analyze data, define problems, and make informed decisions based on the needs of the school. Exhibit self-awareness and emotional intelligence to effectively support diverse student needs. Utilize effective communication skills to engage with students, staff, and families. Possess the physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting materials and managing student behavior when necessary.KIPP DC teachers are supported by experienced leadership and staff who have demonstrated success in teaching roles. Our leaders maintain consistent systems and procedures to enable teachers to focus on their essential work.

Additional Information
The minimum base salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $89,500, depending on relevant experience and advanced degrees. The role includes a signing bonus and annual retention bonuses, along with other incentives when applicable.
