Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee small to mid-sized air quality projects, ensuring effective client communication, budget management, and billing processes.
  • Deliver expert review and technical guidance on air permitting, emissions estimation, dispersion modeling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft air permit applications and conduct compliance assessments across various industries.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff on air quality regulations, modeling techniques, and emissions calculations.
  • Engage in compliance audits and liaise with regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and technical reports.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Provide expert guidance on air quality permits for diverse sectors such as oil and gas, power generation, mining, landfills, and manufacturing.
  • Calculate emissions of criteria pollutants, toxic substances, and greenhouse gases for permitting and modeling purposes.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of air quality permitting requirements and relevant regulations.
  • Prepare air quality sections for environmental impact assessments and conformity determinations.
  • Review technical reports with a critical eye.
  • Create data visualizations including tables, charts, and models for air quality permit applications.
  • Develop and implement site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Maintain professional interactions with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Formulate action plans for larger-scale air quality projects and initiatives.
  • Stay updated on the latest environmental engineering techniques.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to J.S. Held's Code of Conduct.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as dictated by business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant post-education experience in environmental engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one within a year.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state air quality regulations.
  • Experience with air dispersion modeling software and emissions calculation tools.
  • Proficient in engineering principles and their application to environmental projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Demonstrated self-leadership with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and guide junior team members while adhering to quality standards.
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as project demands require.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary based on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with air dispersion modeling software.
  • Completion of 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is advantageous.

  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
