We are seeking a Senior Process Control Engineer for our Float Glass facility in Meadville, PA. This role is pivotal in providing technological, programming, and troubleshooting support for float process equipment and production operations, ensuring reliability and optimal resource utilization. The ideal candidate will focus on enhancing the efficiency of our manufacturing processes and equipment while identifying avenues for improvement and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Process Control Systems, including Deltav DCS, Allen Bradley PLCs, Modicon PLCs, Siemens PLC, VFDs, and HMIs.
  • Design and implement process control systems, encompassing control strategy development, sensor and actuator selection, and control algorithm programming.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify issues related to process control systems, addressing equipment malfunctions, software errors, and communication problems.
  • Enhance process control systems to boost efficiency, minimize waste, and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to discover and implement process improvement opportunities, including participation in the Advanced Process Control Community group from other facilities.
  • Provide training and support to operators, GMMs, and Electronic Technicians on process control systems and plant instrumentation.
  • Utilize effective cost management and sound programming judgment in the timely planning and execution of projects to contribute to plant productivity and profitability objectives.
  • Oversee the AVEVA PI System for plant process data collection.
  • Supervise the Maintenance department's Electronic Technicians, including scheduling and tracking preventive and corrective maintenance, project assignments, material procurement, and time sheet approvals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in electrical engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in process control engineering, focusing on the design, implementation, and maintenance of control systems.
  • Strong understanding of control theory, including PID control, feedback control, and advanced control methodologies.
  • Experience with process instrumentation, including sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and programming for Modicon PLCs, Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, DeltaV DCS, Microsoft .NET, Variable Frequency Drives, and network PCs, with a high level of competency in Windows-based systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effective collaboration within cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Able to lead and actively participate in teams while working independently.
  • Capable of both leading and following within cross-functional teams.
