Banquet Captain Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team at ClubCorp. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing banquet functions, supervising service personnel, and ensuring exceptional member and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise banquet service personnel to ensure proper food and beverage service and presentation.
  • Maximize profitability from the catering function.
  • Ensure food and beverage STAR Service to Members/Guest, promoting satisfaction, member retention, and coordination with other Club departments.
  • Execute private and club events, working closely with the Private Event Director.
  • Hold pre-function meetings with servers to ensure smooth, efficient service, assign server stations, and coordinate timing with kitchen personnel.
  • Ensure all banquet staff are well-groomed and in proper uniform before clocking in.
  • Conduct regular inspections of front and back-of-house service areas and equipment to ensure sanitation, safety, energy management, and preventive maintenance standards are met.
  • Develop ongoing training for all FOH service employees.
  • Handle member and guest complaints, and act as Lead Waiter at special, private functions as needed.
  • Meet and greet guests upon arrival, make contact with the host of the event, and train, supervise, and evaluate FOH service staff.
  • Assure proper staffing for events, maintain neatness, cleanliness, and safety of all dining areas, and participate in weekly food and beverage meetings.
  • Assume Opening or Closing Manager responsibilities when assigned, conduct after-event evaluations to improve quality and efficiency, and ensure staff is aware and ready to execute daily assignments and side work.
  • Assist fellow Employee Partners, Members, and guests to ensure delivery of the 3 Steps of Service without being directed, and be aware of team members and the environment, participating as a member of the team.
  • Notify F&B Director and Private Event Director of Member/Guest complaints at the time they occur, rectify complaints as soon as possible, and practice service recovery.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated good supervisory skills.
  • Good communication and promotional skills.
  • Teaching and motivational skills.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the food and beverage industry.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Certification/License: Food Handlers Certificate, FSP certified, ASAP certified.
