Role Overview:
The Senior Project Cost Accountant plays a crucial role in overseeing and ensuring the financial integrity of assigned projects. This position involves maintaining precise and thorough records of all financial elements related to the projects, analyzing incurred costs, and providing detailed insights.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor project progress from initiation to completion.
  • Identify and address project issues in collaboration with the project team.
  • Assist in developing project budgets, ensuring they align with overall financial objectives.
  • Analyze cost variances and discrepancies, offering insights and recommendations to project managers.
  • Communicate concerns or issues to project management and accounting leadership.
  • Process and review subcontractor work orders and payment applications for compliance.
  • Track project costs, including direct and indirect expenses, labor, and materials.
  • Manage client payment applications and invoices.
  • Conduct project close-out financial and administrative functions.
  • Prepare detailed project analyses for operations and finance management.
  • Provide comprehensive financial analysis and commentary on project costs as requested.
  • Facilitate communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Perform cost reconciliations of projects against adjuster's reports.
  • Support internal and external audits by supplying necessary documentation and reconciliations.
  • Assist in the production of Work in Progress Schedules.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance quality control.
  • Execute additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or cost accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and management.
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Microsoft products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
