Senior Project Cost Accountant - Private Sector – BlueTeam

Position Summary:
The Senior Project Cost Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity of assigned projects. This position involves maintaining precise and comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects, evaluating incurred costs, and providing detailed financial insights. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, particularly within the construction or large-scale restoration sectors, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail alongside proficiency in ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project financials from initiation to completion.
  • Identify and resolve project-related issues in collaboration with the project team.
  • Assist in formulating project budgets aligned with financial objectives.
  • Analyze cost discrepancies and variances, offering insights to project managers.
  • Communicate any financial concerns to project and accounting management.
  • Review subcontractor work orders and payment applications for compliance.
  • Track and monitor project expenditures, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
  • Process client invoices and payment applications.
  • Conduct project close-out financial and administrative activities.
  • Prepare detailed financial analyses for operations and finance leadership.
  • Deliver comprehensive financial commentary on project costs as required.
  • Maintain proactive communication across all organizational levels.
  • Perform reconciliations of project costs against adjuster reports.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reconciliations.
  • Assist in the preparation of Work in Progress Schedules.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance quality control measures.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • At least 5 years of experience in accounting or cost accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Skills:
    • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software.
    • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and management.
    • Self-motivated and proactive approach to work.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills to manage multiple priorities.
    • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes.
    • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
    • Robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
