COMPENSATION INCENTIVE

We offer a $2,500 Commitment Bonus, distributed in two equal installments over the course of 12 months, at 6-month intervals. **This bonus is exclusively available to new hires who have not been employed by Duke University Health System in the preceding 12 months (at the time of offer).**

POSITION SUMMARY

We are in search of a Patient Service Associate to manage and engage in various responsibilities linked to the daily clinic preparation process, patient identification, patient check-in/out, charge posting, cash handling, and appointment scheduling. This role also encompasses customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling, and management of referrals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare for clinic visits by reviewing upcoming patients and completing necessary preparation tasks. Verify insurance details, copay amounts, and prepayments, and prepare HIPAA and COA documents for patient encounters.
  • Facilitate patient check-in upon arrival. Accurately identify patient information in Maestro Care, verify demographic data, and make necessary edits. Ensure correct account identification for each visit, present and explain required forms, and obtain necessary signatures as per policy. Complete all Maestro Care check-in files and manage alerts appropriately. Collect and post co-payments and outstanding balances. Prepare all patient-specific chart documents and requisition/transmittal documents.
  • Manage patient check-out. Schedule follow-up appointments, ensuring accurate appointment types and entries for primary care or referring physicians, as well as scheduling tests and procedures.
  • Handle incoming calls, take messages for physicians, nurses, and other staff. Accurately relay medical information from patients and referring physicians in a timely manner. Disseminate messages according to practice communication standards and respond promptly.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles typically acquired through high school education.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in direct communication and service provision to patients or the public, preferably in a healthcare setting. Proven ability to effectively coordinate multiple tasks or activities.
WORK SCHEDULE

This position operates on a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with no weekend or holiday requirements.
