About the Role

Medtronic is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Principal R&D Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Mechanical Hardware and Test Engineering Department, you will play a critical role in empowering individuals throughout their diabetes journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional teams to plan, schedule, and track technical product development projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and technical risk trackers, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with vendors, contract manufacturers, and cross-functional partners to resolve technical issues and drive project success.
  • Translate customer feedback into engineering design inputs and outputs, ensuring that products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities of one or more product development projects/programs, applying industry best practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff, reviewing their work and providing feedback to ensure technical rigor and quality.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, applying knowledge to drive innovation and improve product development processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering disciplines and 7+ years of product development, engineering program/project management, or engineering leadership experience.
  • OR an advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering disciplines and 5+ years of product development, engineering program/project management, or engineering leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with design control processes in a regulated environment.
  • Experience designing and developing new products, including electromechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to track multiple tasks and projects, create custom dashboards, and report progress.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in verbal and written forms clearly and concisely.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project to create and maintain detailed project schedules.
  • Design for Six Sigma, Design for Reliability, or Lean Sigma project completions and certifications.
