Job Overview

Position Requirements:

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess a valid Texas Peace Officer license and fulfill the criteria set forth by TCOLE for commissioning as a Texas Peace Officer. Individuals interested in opportunities with the Kilgore College Police Department who do not currently hold an active Texas Peace Officer license are encouraged to apply for available Security Officer roles.

About the Kilgore College Police Department:

The Kilgore College Police Department operates as a fully accredited law enforcement agency within Texas. Officers within this department report directly to the Chief of Police.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and security of all college personnel, students, and visitors, as well as college property.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the college and surrounding areas.
  • Perform investigations and compile offense/incident reports.
  • Respond to assistance requests and maintain detailed activity logs.
  • Testify in court when required.
  • Foster positive relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
  • Enforce college policies, city ordinances, and applicable state and federal laws.

Work hours will be flexible, adapting to the department's needs.

Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • A driving record that complies with KCPD standards.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a Texas driver's license.
  • Demonstrated good moral character and a stable record in education, employment, and driving.
  • No military discharge under less than honorable conditions.
  • Active Texas Peace Officer license and compliance with TCOLE criteria at the time of employment.

Preferred candidates will have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage positively with the community. Additional qualifications such as a Master Peace Officer's License, TCOLE Certified Instructor, TCOLE Certified Firearms Instructor, ALERRT Instructor certification, or other specialized training will be advantageous.
