Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency medical situations, including life-threatening calls and non-emergency requests for medical assistance.
  • Assess patients' conditions and develop treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Lead teams of responders in providing medical care, conducting triage, and preparing patients for transport to medical facilities.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of emergency medical equipment and vehicles, and maintain adequate inventory supplies.
  • Participate in cleaning and maintaining station locations, and interact with firefighters, law enforcement, and other non-medical personnel at emergency scenes.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including completing state and local paperwork, and preparing detailed documentation of patient care.
  • Handle hazardous materials and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations for Infection Control, Hazardous Materials Standards, and other job-related duties.
  • Respond to multiple casualty incidents and disasters, providing medical oversight, triage, care, and transport in coordination with other responders.
  • Participate in in-service training and updates to maintain certification and stay current with Emergency Medical Services requirements.
  • Operate ambulances and related medical care response equipment and tools, making decisions that align with CHRISTUS Health's norms, policies, and values.
