Department Summary:

The Kilgore College Police Department operates as a fully authorized law enforcement agency within Texas. Officers are integral members of this department and report directly to the Chief of Police.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and security of all college personnel, students, and visitors, as well as college property.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the college and its surrounding areas.
  • Carry out investigations and complete necessary offense and incident reports.
  • Respond to assistance requests and maintain detailed activity logs.
  • Testify in court when required and foster positive relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
  • Enforce college regulations, city ordinances, and state and federal laws.
  • Work hours will be flexible based on departmental needs.

Qualifications:

To qualify for the position of police officer at Kilgore College, candidates must:

  • Be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Have a driving record that meets departmental standards.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a Texas driver's license.
  • Exhibit good moral character and maintain a stable educational, employment, and driving history.
  • Not have been discharged from military service under less than honorable conditions.
  • Hold an active Texas Peace Officer license and meet TCOLE criteria at the time of employment.

Preferred candidates will have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage positively with the community. Additional preference will be given to those with advanced certifications such as a Master Peace Officer's License, TCOLE Certified Instructor, or specialized training that enhances officer training capabilities.
