Insurance Claims Specialist

Position: Insurance Claims Specialist
Location: Remote
Contract Duration: 6 months
Compensation: $20.30/hr.
Role Summary:
This position involves managing and processing travel insurance claims. The ideal candidate will possess an active New York Adjusters License and demonstrate proficiency in handling complex claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations, evaluations, and resolutions of claims, utilizing both technical expertise and interpersonal skills to ensure fair and timely outcomes.
- Adjust or recommend reserves to align with corporate policies.
- Handle intricate claims with a focus on high-quality service and effective file management.
- Process claims within the designated authority limits.
- Review claims handled by insurance adjusters, further investigating any questionable claims to validate payment authorizations.
- Input claim payments, reserves, and new claims into the computer system, ensuring comprehensive documentation.
- Collaborate with legal counsel on claims that necessitate litigation.
- Engage with claimants, medical professionals, or employers to gather additional information as needed.
- Maintain organized claim files, including records of settled claims and those requiring detailed analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Active New York state adjuster's license is mandatory; additional state licenses are advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in document management and database software.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
- Two to four years of relevant work experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong customer service skills.
- Understanding of state and national laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with medical and legal terminology.
- Experience in a claims production environment with established goals and quality metrics.
