Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Casualty Specialist to contribute to our objectives. This role involves being assigned as the primary adjuster when injury exposure is detected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary adjuster for identified injury exposures.
- Manage both represented and unrepresented first and third-party cases, with independent settlement authority up to $25,000.
- Handle claims across various states, including those requiring specific licenses.
- Address low complexity property damage claims related to homeowner liability.
- Support the claims department by resolving small claims matters.
- Occasionally manage low complexity claims during catastrophic events.
- May handle first-party non-liability injury claims, including Medical Payments and PIP.
Your Contributions:
- Conduct investigations, negotiate settlements, and resolve injury claims with exposure valued under $25,000.
- Effectively communicate with clients through various channels.
- Manage claim assignments and productivity through designated systems.
- Make coverage determinations and advise clients on appropriate actions.
- Perform investigative tasks, including witness interviews and evidence analysis.
- Occasionally represent the insured at settlement conferences or in arbitration settings.
- Evaluate subrogation potential and initiate necessary requests.
- Develop and implement negotiation strategies for claim settlements.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in casualty claims within the property and casualty insurance sector.
- 2-3 years of relevant claims experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Basic math and computer proficiency, with typing skills of at least 30 wpm.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment.
- Willingness to complete necessary training for job responsibilities.
- Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to travel occasionally and work extended hours if needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of casualty claims experience.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Demonstrated respect for diversity through effective communication.
- Active participation in company culture initiatives.
