About the Role

Federated Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Field Claims Specialist to join our team. As a Field Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in investigating, evaluating, and resolving property claims in a fair, prompt, and equitable manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate claims and determine the validity of coverage
  • Conduct necessary investigations and appraise damage
  • Explain policy coverage to clients and third parties
  • Secure proper settlement documentation and determine settlement payments
  • Negotiate settlements with clients or third parties
  • Conduct field investigations and make recommendations for the resolution of claims
  • Retain the services of outside experts when necessary
  • Negotiate directly with claimants and/or their attorneys
Requirements
  • A four-year degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience in property and casualty claims handling
  • Ability to proficiently and effectively manage work with minimal direction
  • Strong analytical, computer, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Work Environment

This is a home-based position with frequent travel by car and/or plane, including overnight and occasional multi-night travel. The ideal candidate must be living or planning to relocate within 1 hour of a major airport.
