About Campus Pre-School & Early Childhood Center:
Established in 1971, Campus Pre-School & Early Childhood Center, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit organization overseen by a Board of Directors. The Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). Enrollment priority is given to children of Binghamton University students, faculty, and staff, while also serving community members as space permits.


Position Summary:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is accountable for the comprehensive daily management and administration of the center's programs, staff, curriculum, and services, ensuring compliance with the policies set forth by the Board and the licensing regulations of the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) or NYC Department of Health (DOH). The Executive Director is tasked with fostering a nurturing environment that supports the emotional, physical, educational, and social growth of the children.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates strong organizational leadership in overseeing the daily operations of the center and enforces policies and procedures on behalf of the Board of Directors.
  • Oversees staff supervision and development: recruits, interviews, hires, schedules, trains, supervises, evaluates, counsels, or dismisses personnel in accordance with established policies; maintains open lines of communication with staff.
  • Ensures a high-quality program through the development and implementation of a suitable curriculum, classroom activities, health services, social services, and parent engagement.
  • Manages administrative systems to optimize the use of resources, finances, space, and equipment. Monitors the center's income and expenses; develops budgets and grant proposals with input from the Board, staff, and parents to maintain financial viability; collaborates with relevant agencies to secure funding sources for ongoing support. Administers contracts on behalf of the center and ensures effective internal controls are in place.
  • Maintains communication with families, acting as a trusted resource and building relationships with parents.
  • Engages in open communication with the Board of Directors, attending all Board meetings as required and preparing regular reports.
  • Represents the center within the community, serving as the primary ambassador.
  • Fosters a strong partnership with Binghamton University, ensuring the center remains a valuable asset to both the college and the community.
  • Collaborates with staff and relevant agencies to uphold center licensure.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or a related field, along with courses in administration, leadership, or management, and one year of full-time teaching experience in a childcare setting, plus one year of supervisory experience in a childcare program or related field.

OR

  • New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential, one year of full-time teaching experience in a childcare setting, and one year of supervisory experience in a childcare program or related field.

OR

  • An Associate degree in Early Childhood or a related field with a plan to obtain a Bachelor's degree, a New York State Program Administration credential, and two years of full-time teaching experience in a childcare setting, along with two years of supervisory experience in a childcare program or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in executive administration, business, and/or accounting.
  • Familiarity with Bright Wheel and QuickBooks.

Additional Information:

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday during the day, with occasional evenings and weekends.
