Job Overview

Position Summary:


Delivers exceptional nursing care to designated patients in alignment with established nursing standards and practices under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

Fosters collaborative relationships with fellow nursing staff, physicians, and support personnel to ensure comprehensive care. Maintains an adequate level of knowledge and clinical proficiency through ongoing education, training sessions, and self-directed learning activities.

Qualifications, License & Certification:


Must possess a valid LPN license as required by the relevant jurisdiction.

Experience:


The practical nurse must hold licensure from the appropriate State Board of Nursing.

This individual is required to have completed the IV therapy curriculum as specified in the relevant regulations. If not completed prior to employment, the individual must successfully finish a Board-approved LPN IV Therapy Education Program before independently performing IV therapy.

Additionally, the staff LPN must adhere to specific educational requirements set forth by the nursing unit throughout their employment. CPR certification must be maintained.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Collaborates with and operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. A. Exhibits the ability to effectively communicate patient observations to the healthcare team. B. Upholds the philosophy and objectives of the nursing department.
  • Assists the Registered Nurse in the nursing process. A. Engages in patient data collection, including the admission process. B. Contributes to establishing outcomes (goals) that involve the patient and family. C. Implements care plans in partnership with the nursing team. D. Aids RN in assessing the patient's response to interventions. E. Suggests modifications to care plans to the RN and participates in patient care discussions.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in executing nursing skills and procedures relevant to the clinical area and scope of practice. A. Operates within the nursing care scope consistent with policies and procedures and state licensure for LPNs. B. Collaborates with the RN to implement evidence-based interventions tailored to patient needs. C. Assists in patient and family health education, utilizing available educational resources. D. Prioritizes tasks and sets objectives to effectively manage daily patient assignments.
4. Documents thoroughly, concisely, and promptly in accordance with nursing department standards. A. Accurately records and communicates changes in patient conditions to the RN.

  • Meets professional role expectations and requirements. A. Displays behaviors consistent with the organization's mission and vision. B. Exhibits positive interpersonal relations while interacting with nursing and interprofessional teams to enhance efficiency and deliver quality patient care. C. Shares knowledge and skills with peers by recognizing and utilizing opportunities to educate other staff members, participating in the orientation of new employees, and collaborating with faculty in clinical training for healthcare students. D. Shows commitment to lifelong learning by assessing and identifying personal learning needs, developing a plan to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance, and executing the plan. Maintains professional records that provide evidence of competency. E. Evaluates personal strengths and weaknesses. F. Engages in performance improvement initiatives to facilitate changes in nursing practice and the healthcare delivery system. G. Participates in efforts to reduce costs and avoid unnecessary duplication in patient care.

Additional Responsibilities:


  • Utilizes time between patient care tasks to maintain a clean and organized work environment and assist other nurses with patient care.

The pay range for this position is from $24.50-$38.23
