Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Production Coordinator is accountable for assessing the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) needs to sustain the production environment, ensuring that customer demands are met efficiently. A solid understanding of manufacturing workflows and raw material lead times is essential. This role involves crafting production schedules, overseeing materials, resources, and work-in-progress to adhere to timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulates, evaluates, and sustains the production schedule for assemblies and sub-assemblies, determining material needs and constructing production timelines. Collaborates closely with the manufacturing team and Supply Chain to address capacity and resource limitations.
- Establishes timelines to fulfill production objectives by comprehending requirements and material availability, effectively communicating these needs to the production team.
- Works in conjunction with management to identify and resolve production challenges stemming from material shortages, yield issues, engineering modifications, or order cancellations.
- Maintains continuous interaction with manufacturing, quality assurance, planning, procurement, and engineering teams.
- Assists in ensuring that bills of materials, routing instructions, and production orders for new products are precise and executed correctly.
- Engages in production meetings as necessary. Monitors work-in-progress and defective components that could jeopardize the production schedule.
- Participates in cycle counting and physical inventory, conducting root cause analyses when needed.
- Oversees excess and obsolete inventory to ensure that surplus raw materials, finished goods, and excess work-in-progress are managed appropriately.
- Ensures the accuracy of master data (material masters, bills of materials, routing instructions, and production order types) to support the effective execution of the master production schedule.
- May assist in warehouse operations as required.
- Issues, maintains, and tracks all production orders.
- Responsible for month-end closing activities related to production orders.
- Generates production reports as necessary.
Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and/or 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing materials environment is preferred; or equivalent experience with a strong foundation in MRP and production scheduling/control functions.
Essential Skills:
- Experience with ERP systems is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with planning and scheduling methodologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to navigate the shop floor.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of products throughout the manufacturing area, dock, and warehouse.
- Capability to operate material handling equipment.
- Prolonged standing and walking may be required.
- Extended periods of computer work.
- Must be able to lift and carry weights ranging from 10 to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to chemicals and loud environments is possible.
- Ability to work in a clean room environment and wear appropriate clean room attire.
- Must wear necessary safety protective equipment, including but not limited to safety shoes, glasses, or ESD coats.
