Position Overview

The Facilities Management Department is looking for candidates to fulfill the position of Custodial Services Specialist. This role is essential in ensuring cleanliness and sanitation throughout the campus environment. Custodial Services Specialists are tasked with delivering daily cleaning and maintenance services to all educational and administrative sectors on campus. Their responsibilities encompass general cleaning, floor maintenance, waste disposal, recycling efforts, event preparation, pest management, and other related tasks.

Custodial Services Specialists are trained personnel who utilize modern cleaning tools and methodologies to guarantee that the campus remains clean, secure, and healthy. They collaborate with various departments to ensure that all campus areas are well-kept and hygienic. Additionally, they are responsible for managing the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Beyond their standard duties, Custodial Services Specialists may receive additional tasks to support the department's objectives. They are expected to operate efficiently, independently, and with professionalism, adhering to safety protocols and utilizing personal protective equipment when necessary. Overall, Custodial Services Specialists play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy atmosphere for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Empty and sanitize waste and recycling receptacles, providing assistance in waste removal in various building areas as needed.
  • Dust, mop, sweep, and scrub floors and surfaces, including tables and windows, and clean carpets and furniture using both manual and powered equipment as required. Maintain and service restrooms, and perform spot cleaning on walls, partitions, doors, and other washable surfaces as necessary. Operate automatic scrubbers, sweepers, and carpet cleaning machines as needed.
  • Relocate furniture, supplies, and equipment as directed.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding work direction and schedules for floor cleaning, completing necessary administrative paperwork for online and in-person training.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Familiarity with cleaning agents and custodial practices.
  2. Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
