Position Overview

The Facilities Management Department is actively seeking candidates for the position of Building Service Worker. This role is essential in ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the campus environment. Building Service Workers are tasked with delivering comprehensive cleaning and custodial services across all academic and administrative facilities. Their responsibilities encompass a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, general cleaning, floor maintenance, waste disposal, recycling collection, event preparation, pest management, and other related activities.

Professional Responsibilities

Building Service Workers are skilled professionals who utilize advanced cleaning tools and methodologies to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy campus. They collaborate with various departments to guarantee that all campus areas are properly cleaned and maintained. Additionally, they are responsible for managing the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Beyond their primary duties, Building Service Workers may be assigned additional tasks to support the department's objectives. They are expected to perform their work efficiently, independently, and with professionalism, adhering to safety protocols and utilizing personal protective equipment as necessary. Overall, Building Service Workers play a pivotal role in sustaining a clean, safe, and healthy atmosphere for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Regularly empty and sanitize waste and recycling receptacles, and assist in waste removal in various areas of the buildings as needed.
  • Dust, mop, sweep, and scrub floors and surfaces, including tables and windows. Clean carpets and furniture using both manual and powered equipment as required. Maintain and service restrooms. Spot clean walls, partitions, doors, and other washable surfaces as necessary. Operate automatic scrubbers, sweepers, and carpet cleaners as needed.
  • Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as directed.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors regarding work direction and floor cleaning schedules, and complete necessary administrative paperwork.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Familiarity with cleaning agents and custodial practices.
  2. Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
