Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a Program Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Psychology Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our Psychology Department.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Conduct ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of clinical operations.
  • Organize and lead team meetings to facilitate case disposition, care management, and effective delivery of clinical interventions.
  • Monitor and distribute provider-specific workload reports to team members and ensure provider adherence to workload standards.
  • Plan work to be accomplished by team members, including establishing priorities, timelines for completion, and necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure timely access to care of patients assigned to the team, in accordance with local and national policies.
  • Initiate and maintain liaisons with associated VA health care programs to effectively coordinate services.
  • Monitor compliance of team members with VA performance measures and effectively shape provider practice patterns to improve standing on performance measures.
  • Provide leadership in hiring of new staff members for the team, including constructing job announcements, preparing functional statements, and/or selecting final job candidates.
  • Resolve conflicts among team members and adjudicate complaints and problems of employees in a timely and effective manner.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed.
  • At least three years of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one (1) year equivalent to the GS-13 grade level.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, delegate tasks, and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize evidence-based practices and clinical practice guidelines appropriately and ability to guide staff in using these tools.
  • Ability to deal effectively with individuals or groups representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view.
  • Skill in managing and directing the work of others to accomplish program goals and objectives.
  • Ability to translate management goals and objectives into well-coordinated and controlled work operations.
  • Ability to establish and monitor production and performance priorities and standards.
  • Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in sound operation of the program.
