Position Overview

JOB SUMMARY:
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is accountable for overseeing the development and implementation of programs, policies, and practices that ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role serves as the primary liaison for both internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies concerning all EHS-related issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the formulation and execution of environmental, health, and safety policies and programs. Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards, while collaborating with corporate EHS teams on initiatives and best practices.
  • Oversee safety and environmental operations, including policy creation, documentation, reporting, training, and third-party interactions. Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with wastewater treatment and hazardous materials management, maintaining operational standards to prevent incidents and regulatory violations.
  • Manage regulatory compliance for health and safety, keeping abreast of relevant laws and developing strategies to mitigate risks. Act as a representative for the organization in discussions with regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate loss prevention initiatives and manage workers' compensation claims in collaboration with Human Resources. Serve as the main point of contact for employees regarding accident reporting and safety improvements.
  • Facilitate the integration of new processes and equipment from an EHS perspective.
  • Maintain comprehensive EHS documentation systems to ensure information is accurate and accessible. Provide training on EHS protocols to enhance understanding and compliance.
  • Lead and participate in EHS committees to address various safety and environmental issues, providing technical expertise as needed.
  • Engage with internal and external EHS organizations to foster communication and information exchange.
  • Offer guidance on EHS matters, contributing to the development and implementation of solutions and process enhancements. Ensure that all necessary certifications are achieved and maintained.
  • Contribute to strategic business planning related to EHS considerations.
  • Adhere to regulations concerning hazardous materials and ensure compliance with established safety and environmental standards.
  • Uphold company policies and conduct all activities in accordance with the organization's code of conduct.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. Candidates with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in managing EHS programs within a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven track record of enhancing operational performance metrics.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adjust priorities as necessary.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, both verbal and written.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in managing comprehensive EHS programs, including the development and execution of safety and environmental initiatives.
  • Background in manufacturing, particularly in fasteners or aerospace sectors, with demonstrated success.
  • Ability to influence organizational culture towards proactive safety and environmental practices.
  • Experience in leadership, mentoring, and project management roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards.
  • Familiarity with FMEA methodologies to enhance safety and standardization.
