Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

The Production Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing the daily operations of the production line, managing a team of approximately 30 Associates from various backgrounds. This position is essential for meeting production targets while maintaining a high standard of quality in a lean manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Health and Safety Management

  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment by guiding personnel on the proper use of equipment and resources, adhering to established safety protocols.
  • Implement and enforce safety regulations to minimize workplace injuries and serve as a contact for after-hours safety concerns.
  • Coordinate drug screenings following safety incidents and consult with HR for necessary actions.

2. Food Safety Compliance

  • Ensure team adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to guarantee the production of safe food products.
  • Collaborate with senior management to address and resolve issues identified during audits.
  • Work alongside the Maintenance Department to prioritize repairs that impact food safety.
  • Train all employees on food safety principles, including allergen management and food defense, annually.
  • Maintain traceability of all finished products to their respective raw materials and ingredients.
  • Establish procedures for handling returned goods to ensure food safety.

3. Leadership and Team Development

  • Identify training needs and provide appropriate training to team members.
  • Encourage a solution-oriented mindset among associates and collaborate with other supervisors to address production challenges.
  • Communicate departmental goals and performance metrics to employees.
  • Manage employee performance through coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Oversee attendance records and address attendance-related issues.
  • Recruit, select, and train new employees while fostering their professional growth.
  • Manage a team of up to 180 members during peak operations.

4. Operational Efficiency

  • Ensure equipment functionality by coordinating repairs and evaluating new technologies.
  • Report daily production variances and staffing challenges to the Director of Operations.
  • Monitor production areas to meet goals related to waste reduction and compliance with GMP.
  • Facilitate smooth workflow by observing control points and implementing necessary adjustments.
  • Coordinate with various departments to achieve production schedules and resolve issues.

5. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor and document critical control points as per the HACCP plan.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Strive for continuous improvement across all areas of production by participating in relevant projects.

6. Collaboration with Research and Development

  • Work with R&D to create a hygienic and efficient working environment.
  • Provide input for the development and commercialization of new products.
  • Assist in improving existing products and processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Associate's degree.
  2. 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Experience in food manufacturing or clean room settings.
  4. Quality control experience is advantageous.
  5. Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. 5-8 years of supervisory experience in production.
  3. Experience managing diverse teams.
  4. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift and move items up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and manual dexterity required.
