The Manufacturing Operations Supervisor is a dedicated and quality-focused professional responsible for overseeing and managing the daily activities of approximately 30 Associates from various backgrounds to meet production objectives within a streamlined manufacturing environment. This role involves hiring, planning, assigning tasks, training, motivating, and evaluating performance while suggesting enhancements in production techniques, equipment, and operational procedures. A strong understanding of GMPs, SSOPs, CCPs, and USDA and/or FDA regulations is essential. This position is accountable for the Company Store/Laundry, Production, Receiving, and Shipping Processes within the facility. Adherence to all E. A. Sween company policies, departmental guidelines, and safety protocols is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Health and Safety

  • Ensures a safe and clean working environment by educating and guiding personnel on the proper use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Implements safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of employee injuries on the job. Acts as a contact point for after-hours employee and plant security.
  • Coordinates onsite drug screening for safety incidents involving property damage or reasonable suspicion.

2. Food Safety

  • Ensures team members adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices to guarantee the production of safe, high-quality food.
  • Collaborates with senior management to ensure all corrective actions from audits are completed and reviewed.
  • Works with the Maintenance Department to prioritize repairs based on food safety risks.
  • Complies with food safety regulations and current Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure the delivery of safe food products.
  • Ensures all employees receive adequate training in food safety principles and practices annually.
  • Maintains traceability of all finished products to their respective lot numbers or code dates of ingredients.
  • Establishes written procedures for the safety and security of returned goods.

3. Leadership

  • Identifies training needs and determines appropriate training types.
  • Encourages associates to focus on solutions rather than problems and collaborates with other Supervisors to identify resolutions.
  • Keeps employees informed about departmental goals and performance.
  • Communicates job expectations; plans, monitors, and evaluates job results; coaches and disciplines employees as necessary.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and facilitating employee training.
  • Manages a team of up to 70 members on one shift and up to 180 in the absence of a second shift supervisor.
  • Maintains performance standards and updates standard work for all positions as needed.
  • Resolves employee relations issues through investigation and analysis.
  • Contributes to team efforts by achieving related results as needed.
  • Collaborates remotely with various departments to resolve production-related issues.

4. Operations/Supply Chain Logistics

  • Ensures equipment operation by coordinating repairs and evaluating new equipment.
  • Informs the Director of Operations of any production variations or staffing issues.
  • Ensures the Temp Room, Warehouse, and Pack Off areas meet operational goals.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring process steps and implementing cost reductions.
  • Communicates with various departments to fulfill production plans.
  • Manages production schedules and coordinates with planning for contingency plans.
  • Works with Warehouse Supervisors to ensure raw materials are issued according to work orders.
  • Coordinates efficient product changeovers.
  • Provides production information by compiling and analyzing performance records.
  • Implements changes by analyzing operating practices and requirements.

5. Quality Assurance/Continuous Improvement

  • Ensures CCP monitoring and documentation is completed per the HACCP plan.
  • Monitors SSOPs and ensures documentation is accurate.
  • Conducts audits to ensure compliance with standard work and 6S.
  • Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and employee morale to achieve positive results.

6. Research and Development (R&D)

  • Creates and maintains an efficient and hygienic working environment in collaboration with R&D.
  • Understands Standard Operating Procedures and Inspection Regulations of R&D.
  • Works with R&D to develop new products, commercialize products, and improve existing products and processes.

7. Equipment

  • Knowledge of electric and manual pallet jacks/forklifts.
  • Familiarity with E1 JD Edwards and RFS Scan Guns.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Associate's degree.
  2. 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a production environment.
  3. Experience in food manufacturing and/or clean room environments.
  4. Quality control experience is a plus.
  5. Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. 5-8 years of supervisory experience in a production environment.
  3. Experience supervising employees from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  4. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with various levels of employees and diverse cultures.
  • Must be able to keep up with manufacturing speeds and work in cool conditions.
  • Frequent standing or walking; ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
