Manufacturing Operations Supervisor

The Production Supervisor is a driven and detail-oriented professional responsible for overseeing and directing the daily activities of approximately 30 team members from various backgrounds to meet production targets in a streamlined manufacturing setting. This role involves hiring, planning, and assigning tasks, as well as training and motivating staff while managing performance and suggesting enhancements in production techniques, equipment, and operational procedures. Familiarity with GMPs, SSOPs, CCPs, and USDA and/or FDA regulations is essential. This position is accountable for the Company Store/Laundry, Production, Receiving, and Shipping operations within the facility. Adherence to all company policies, departmental guidelines, and safety protocols is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Health and Safety

  • Ensure a safe and organized work environment by educating and guiding personnel on the proper use of equipment and resources; maintain compliance with established safety policies.
  • Implement safety protocols to minimize the risk of workplace injuries and serve as a contact for after-hours security issues.
  • Coordinate onsite drug testing for safety incidents involving property damage or reasonable suspicion.

2. Food Safety

  • Ensure team compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices to guarantee the production of safe, high-quality food products.
  • Collaborate with senior management to address corrective actions from audits.
  • Work alongside the Maintenance Department to prioritize repairs that impact food safety.
  • Ensure all employees receive adequate training in food safety principles and practices.
  • Maintain traceability of finished products to their respective lot numbers and ingredient sources.
  • Establish procedures for handling returned goods to ensure food safety.

3. Leadership

  • Identify training needs and implement appropriate training programs.
  • Encourage associates to focus on solutions and collaborate with other supervisors to resolve issues.
  • Communicate departmental goals and performance metrics to employees.
  • Oversee employee performance through planning, monitoring, and providing feedback.
  • Manage attendance records and address any attendance-related issues.
  • Recruit, select, and train new employees while fostering their professional development.
  • Supervise a team of up to 180 members during peak operations.

4. Operations and Supply Chain Management

  • Ensure equipment functionality by coordinating repairs and evaluating new technologies.
  • Report daily production variations and staffing challenges to the Director of Operations.
  • Monitor and optimize workflow to minimize waste and downtime.
  • Coordinate with various departments to fulfill production schedules and resolve issues.
  • Manage production schedules and collaborate with planning teams to address potential shortages.

5. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with CCP monitoring and documentation as per the HACCP plan.
  • Conduct audits to verify adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Balance quality, productivity, and safety to achieve optimal results.

6. Equipment Management

  • Maintain knowledge of equipment operation and safety protocols.
  • Utilize various tools and software to enhance operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Associate's degree.
  2. 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Experience in food production or clean room settings.
  4. Quality control experience is advantageous.
  5. Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. 5-8 years of supervisory experience in a production setting.
  3. Experience managing diverse teams.
  4. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of lifting and moving up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in varying temperatures and conditions.
