Marbles Kids Museum is a dynamic, nonprofit children's museum and IMAX Theatre situated in a central location. The museum caters to a diverse audience, including families, educational groups, and community organizations, offering award-winning play-based exhibits, summer programs, IMAX films, and special events throughout the year. Marbles is recognized as one of North Carolina's premier family attractions, providing enriching experiences for children through innovative programs and captivating films.

Position Summary

We are in search of a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fulfill the role of Event Host. This position is crucial for managing facility rentals and internal events, which includes direct interaction with clients during events, overseeing facility rental activities, ensuring building security after hours, and communicating operational issues to the Event Coordinator. The Event Host serves as a representative of Marbles during a variety of events, meetings, and celebrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-of event operations, including preparing the venue, coordinating with staff on seating arrangements, briefing security on event specifics, and managing transitions from museum operations.
  • Deliver an outstanding guest experience that aligns with Marbles' customer service standards.
  • Supervise vendor setups, including catering, entertainment, and rental services.
  • Ensure all event specifications are fulfilled as agreed with the client and provide assistance throughout the event as necessary.
  • Manage security personnel during events to ensure the protection and appropriate use of exhibits and museum facilities.
  • Facilitate the breakdown of events, ensuring proper storage of materials and resetting the museum for regular operations.
  • Compile a comprehensive report on event details, noting any issues or follow-up actions required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in customer service, especially with families and young children (preferred).
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, exhibit patience, and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Previous experience in event management is preferred.
  • Self-driven with the capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk, lift, stand for extended periods, sit, and bend.
  • May need to move event equipment.
  • Must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.

Work Schedule

  • Flexible hours are necessary, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Increased availability is expected during peak event seasons.

Work Environment

  • Conditions may include low lighting, flashing lights, and elevated noise levels.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
