Special Events Internship

Internship Opportunity

The Special Events Team at Marbles is tasked with the design and successful delivery of various events, including family-oriented, adult-only, and fundraising activities. Guests at these events enjoy a unique experience characterized by stunning decor, imaginative food and beverages, themed activities, and engaging games.

We are in search of a Special Events Intern eager to assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of Marbles' upcoming events. This internship will provide a platform for learning and professional development, focusing on event management principles while gaining practical experience in a lively environment. Interns will enhance their skills in communication, organization, problem-solving, and teamwork, preparing them for future career opportunities. Please note that this is an unpaid internship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the creation of event concepts and themes by collaborating with the team to brainstorm innovative and memorable ideas for participants.
  • Assist in identifying and securing vendors and suppliers for events.
  • Engage in planning sessions and post-event evaluations.
  • Support the management of pre-event planning tasks.
  • Help gather and organize feedback, providing recommendations for enhancements.
  • Assist with venue setup, catering logistics, and equipment rentals.
  • Ensure a positive experience for event participants by aiding in setup and replenishing decor, food, beverages, and activities, while addressing guest inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be currently enrolled in an educational program that necessitates an internship for academic credit.
  • Preferred fields of study include Hospitality, Event Planning, or related disciplines.
  • At least 6 months of experience in event planning, hospitality, customer service, or a related area is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to handle challenges and assist clients in a calm, courteous, and supportive manner.
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, bend, and stoop.
  • Capable of moving equipment, pushing/pulling carts, and lifting heavy items.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Work Schedule
  • This is an unpaid internship requiring a commitment of 10 hours per week.
  • Availability on certain mornings, weekends, and evenings is highly preferred.
  • Interns are expected to primarily work on-site, with some flexibility for remote tasks as appropriate.
Work Environment
  • Conditions may include low light, flashing lights, and elevated noise levels.
  • Occasional exposure to varying outdoor temperatures.
