Opportunity Overview

The Special Events Team at Marbles is tasked with the planning and successful delivery of various events, including family gatherings, adult-focused events, and fundraising initiatives. Guests at these events experience an extraordinary atmosphere filled with stunning decor, delightful food and beverages, themed activities, and engaging games.

We are on the lookout for a Special Events Intern eager to assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of upcoming events. This internship will provide valuable exposure to event management practices, allowing you to gain practical experience in a lively environment. You will develop crucial skills in communication, organization, problem-solving, and teamwork, preparing you for future career opportunities. Please note that this is an unpaid internship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the creation of event concepts and themes by collaborating with the team to brainstorm innovative and memorable ideas for attendees.
  • Assist in sourcing vendors and suppliers for various events.
  • Engage in planning sessions and post-event evaluations.
  • Support the management of pre-event preparations.
  • Help collect and organize feedback to recommend enhancements.
  • Assist with venue setup, catering logistics, and equipment rentals.
  • Ensure a positive experience for event participants by aiding in setup and replenishing decor, food, beverages, and activities, while guiding guests and promptly addressing any issues.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be currently enrolled in an educational program that necessitates an internship for academic credit.
  • Preferred fields of study include Hospitality, Event Planning, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience of 6+ months in event planning, hospitality, customer service, or a related area is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management capabilities with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to handle challenges and assist clients in a calm, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, bend, and stoop.
  • Capable of moving equipment, pushing/pulling carts, and lifting heavy items.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Work Schedule
  • This is an unpaid internship. A commitment of 10 hours per week is expected throughout the semester.
  • Availability on weekends and evenings is highly preferred.
  • Interns are primarily expected to work in-person, with some flexibility for remote tasks as needed.
Work Environment
  • Conditions may include low light, flashing lights, and loud sounds.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
