INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
The Special Events Team at Marbles is tasked with the design and successful delivery of various events tailored for families, adults, and fundraising initiatives. Guests at these events enjoy a unique experience characterized by stunning decorations, imaginative food and beverages, themed activities, and interactive games.
We are in search of a Special Events Intern eager to assist in the planning, organization, and execution of Marbles' upcoming events. This internship offers a chance to learn about event management practices and gain practical experience in a vibrant environment. You will develop vital skills in communication, organization, problem-solving, and teamwork, preparing you for future career opportunities. Please note that this is an unpaid internship.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the creation of event concepts and themes by collaborating with the team to brainstorm innovative and memorable ideas for participants.
- Assist in sourcing vendors and suppliers for events.
- Engage in planning sessions and post-event assessments.
- Support the management of pre-event preparations.
- Help gather and organize feedback, offering suggestions for enhancements.
- Assist with venue setup and breakdown, catering logistics, and equipment rentals.
- Enhance the attendee experience by aiding in the setup and replenishment of decorations, food, beverages, and activities, while addressing guest inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Must be enrolled in an academic program that requires an internship for credit.
- Preferred fields of study include Hospitality, Event Planning, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience in event planning, hospitality, customer service, or a similar area is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent time management capabilities with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
- Ability to handle challenges and assist clients in a calm and courteous manner.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, bend, and stoop.
- Capability to move equipment, push/pull carts, and lift heavy items.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
- Work conditions may include low light, flashing lights, and elevated noise levels.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
- This is an unpaid internship. A commitment of 10 hours per week is expected throughout the semester.
- Availability on certain mornings, weekends, and evenings is preferred.
- Interns are primarily expected to work in-person, with some flexibility for remote tasks as needed.
