Position Overview: Sales Representative - Washington D.C. Area

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Regional Sales Leader

Employment Status: Exempt

Location: Washington D.C. Area

Importance of this Role at Genesee Scientific:

The Sales Representatives play a crucial role in driving the sales of research products within designated territories. You will be responsible for establishing and nurturing strong customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities within an existing client base, and ensuring market penetration and profitability while meeting sales and profit targets. This position is ideal for a motivated professional seeking to gain valuable sales experience in a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of your territory to foster and maintain robust customer relationships.
  • Formulate strategies and implement plans to achieve annual sales and gross margin objectives.
  • Oversee pricing strategies within your territory to meet financial goals.
  • Make independent decisions while utilizing available resources to meet customer needs, promoting seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Keep abreast of competitor and industry trends, staying informed about new products/services and relevant customer insights to integrate into your business strategy.
  • Maintain precise reporting, records, and documentation necessary for effective territory management.
  • Address customer concerns or potential issues and complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Provide customers with updates on supply and pricing trends, assisting in inventory management, and offering consultative support.
  • Represent Genesee Scientific positively during all customer interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience, typically with two or more years in sales or research laboratory environments.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering sales and marketing information that influences customer decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams, along with experience in Salesforce, Sage, or other CRM platforms.
  • Results-driven, with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
  • Strong time management skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • This role primarily operates from a home office with frequent travel to customer locations; overnight travel may be required.
  • The position involves minimal physical exertion, including tasks such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, and occasionally lifting or carrying items weighing less than 10 lbs.
