Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Community Outreach Manager to join our team at the Mayor's Office of Talent and Appointments (MOTA). The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the community outreach team and developing strategic approaches to engage, empower, and improve the quality of life for Latino constituents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Supervise a team of community outreach specialists and provide guidance on outreach strategies to improve program effectiveness.
  • Community Outreach: Conduct community outreach studies, analyze data, and make recommendations to improve program effectiveness.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for Latino constituents on issues related to employment, education, housing, health, and economic development.
  • Communication: Represent the agency at community events, meetings, and conferences, and coordinate community outreach activities.
  • Program Development: Plan and outline community education programs, train and coordinate volunteers, and provide staff support and technical advice to community-based organizations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in community outreach, public service, or a related field.
  • Skills: Proficient technology skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and data management systems; ability to speak and write fluently in both Spanish and English.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of the mission, policies, methodologies, operating procedures, and program services of partnering agencies.
Working Environment

The work is performed in-person in an office setting and in the field when there are related events.

Residency Requirement

There is a legal requirement that each new appointee to the Excepted Service either be a District of Columbia resident at the time of appointment or become a District resident within one hundred eighty (180) days of appointment.
