The Software Engineering Division at MISO is dedicated to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of software applications and services that play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of the bulk electric system and facilitating participation in energy markets. Our applications are integral to real-time operations and are accessible to energy market participants via our market portal. The vision of our Software Engineering Team is to create intelligent applications that empower the operations of the grid and the energy markets of the future. We are seeking a Release Engineer. In this role, you will lead the continuous delivery of software through ongoing enhancements and drive the automation of the development pipeline, focusing on code quality, test coverage, code reviews, application security assessments, threat analysis, build health, and more. Your objective is to enhance MISO's developer experience, improve code quality, increase test coverage, and bolster application security while minimizing deployment and rollback risks.

  • Oversee CI/CD DevSecOps tools and pipelines, collaborating closely with development teams to enhance the developer experience.
  • Work alongside development teams to design, code, test, and automate software delivery workflows.
  • Implement, test, and deliver software solutions to automate manual operational tasks.
  • Contribute to design discussions and technical decision-making processes.
  • Exhibit a strong drive for efficiency and optimization across all software engineering practices.

To excel as a Release Engineer, the following qualifications are essential:

  • Experience in CI/CD implementation, maintenance, and administration (preferably GitHub Enterprise).
  • Proficiency in one or more programming and scripting languages (Python is required; other preferred languages include Java, JavaScript, C#, Bash, or PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies and associated tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps and Agile development methodologies.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code technologies and processes (preferably Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience with public cloud service providers (Microsoft Azure is preferred).
  • Experience in designing and implementing high-reliability systems is advantageous.

The appropriate level for this position will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise.
