Job Summary:

The Buyer/Planner plays a crucial role in managing the procurement process and ensuring the seamless flow of materials necessary for production and product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute purchasing strategies to meet material requirements for ongoing and new projects.
  2. Prepare and process purchasing requisitions for the department.
  3. Maintain accurate computerized records and filing systems for procurement activities.
  4. Identify and resolve any material shortages impacting production timelines.
  5. Establish and nurture relationships with dependable vendors and suppliers to align purchase orders with demand forecasts.
  6. Place orders and closely monitor fulfillment to meet sales requirements.
  7. Track and coordinate with contract manufacturers to ensure timely delivery and manage prototype project schedules.
  8. Regularly update planning spreadsheets and internal reporting documents.
  9. Analyze inventory levels in relation to sales forecasts and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
  10. Accurately enter purchase transactions and compile both historical and current procurement data.
  11. Collaborate with the internal purchasing team to adhere to ISO standards and compliance requirements.
  12. Participate in additional projects and tasks as required by business needs.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing and planning, particularly with contract manufacturers in the computer hardware or server product sectors.
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of ISO systems and standards.
  5. Familiarity with ISO13485, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 is advantageous.
  6. Ability to present data and analysis in a clear and organized manner.
  7. Proficient in managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  8. Demonstrated ability to conduct research and perform cost analysis for competitive pricing.
  9. Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  10. Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
  11. Knowledge of lean principles and Just-In-Time (JIT) environments.
  12. APICS Certification is a plus.
  13. Experience in hardware design or component evaluation is highly desirable.
  14. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  15. Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards in business conduct.
