Job Title: POST Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Supervisor

Job Summary:

The City of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Supervisor to lead our Post Overdose Support Team (POST). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, providing guidance and support to individuals experiencing active substance use issues, and advocating for program participants' needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly face-to-face supervision with direct reports, focusing on the development of CPRS's professional skills and self-care tools.
  • Develop the weekly work schedule for direct reports as related to caseload size and POST unit deployment.
  • Review and assign all referrals from outside organizations and partners.
  • Provide and supervise secondary response to opioid overdoses and de-escalate individuals who have recently experienced an opioid overdose and who have refused additional medical treatment.
  • Report to the POST Project Manager and successfully implement the PPM's expectations regarding general function and deployment of Certified Peer Recovery Specialists.
  • Ensure direct reports complete paperwork and data entry on time and according to OCHS program guidelines.
  • Ensure the program is operating based on Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) license standards.
  • Ensure staff maintain certification qualifications and training requirements.
  • Work directly with certified peer recovery specialist staff in providing guidance and supervision throughout their daily work.
  • Communicate with individuals experiencing active substance use issues to build trust, promote wellness, and mitigate risks.
  • Aid POST staff in formulating individualized service plans for program participants.
  • Advocate in conjunction with other POST staff for program participants' needs as they navigate treatment services, mental health services, and the criminal legal system.
  • Collaborate with EMS personnel who have recently responded to an opioid overdose to ensure a successful warm handoff to the POST unit.

Requirements:

  • Four (4) years of full-time experience working with mental health direct care experience, which may include experience in peer support services.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CRS) or Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) preferred.
