Job Summary:

UPMC Life Changing Medicine is seeking a Peer Specialist I to provide support and education to individuals with lived experience as part of a treatment team. The successful candidate will serve as an advocate, educator, and mentor to promote recovery values and remove barriers to treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide valuable feedback to clients, family members, and clinical staff to enhance treatment outcomes
  • Assist clients in setting and achieving recovery goals through personalized support and guidance
  • Connect clients with community resources and supports to promote self-sufficiency and well-being
  • Advocate for clients' needs in team meetings to ensure their voices are heard
  • Provide follow-up services and crisis support to clients in need

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist or Recovery Specialist preferred
  • Lived experience in mental health or substance use disorder
  • Understanding of recovery principles and peer support
  • Basic knowledge of mental health and wellness

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPR certification
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management training
  • Child Abuse Reporting certification
  • Clearances as required by law
