Job Title:
Social Media Content Specialist

Job Summary:
This role supports the mission of a federal agency focused on scientific advancement.

The Social Media Content Specialist will be responsible for crafting, researching, and managing content across various social media platforms that highlight significant agency activities and initiatives.

The Specialist will collaborate with the social media team and report to the Chief of Creative Services.

Key Responsibilities:
Creating, writing, and coordinating engaging copy while sourcing multimedia content for the agency's social media accounts, including:

- Coverage of key events, announcements, and observances
- Development of speeches
- Highlighting events featuring senior leadership and notable agency content

Formulating, drafting, and implementing digital engagement strategies to address complex scientific topics, enhancing the agency's mission
Producing social media content that clearly communicates and interprets important and intricate agency science programs and research findings
Assisting in the assessment of agency-wide external digital engagement campaigns and preparing evaluation reports
Providing expertise in measuring public attitudes and actions to refine and enhance digital engagement strategies
Collaborating with scientists and agency personnel to prepare and review social media content
Gathering and verifying the accuracy of social media content with subject-matter experts and relevant contacts
Providing thorough editing and proofreading throughout all stages of content development
Coordinating with external agencies' social media teams for agency events
Participating in planning or event management meetings to align content with upcoming events
Representing the social media team in various meetings
Working with data analysts to generate regular reports on engagement metrics and account performance
Ensuring that all agency campaigns are effectively represented across social media platforms
Supporting all agency social media accounts as necessary

Required Qualifications and Skills:
In-depth understanding of social media strategies and principles
Exceptional writing and editing capabilities
Ability to simplify complex scientific content for diverse audiences
Bachelor's degree
A minimum of 6 years of experience in social media management, particularly in scientific or technical environments

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience collaborating with scientists or within academic settings
Familiarity with federal plain language and AP style guidelines

Work Environment:
This position operates in a hybrid model, requiring onsite presence two days a week.
Work may include evening and weekend hours for live events and conferences.
