Senior B2B Content Strategist

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior B2B Content Strategist plays a crucial role in the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of SHRM's flagship B2B content and sales enablement materials. This position requires a strategic mindset capable of integrating impactful content strategies with practical sales support to elevate SHRM's brand and sales performance. Close collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and external partners is essential to ensure that both flagship content and sales materials are timely, relevant, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Strategy Development: Formulate and implement content strategies that effectively engage targeted B2B audiences and enhance SHRM's branding efforts.
  • Content Creation Management: Oversee the production, development, and refinement of content across various formats, including articles, videos, podcasts, case studies, presentations, guides, and enablement materials, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to maximize content impact, maintain consistent messaging across all channels, and understand B2B needs and feedback regarding sales content.
  • Project Coordination: Assist in managing project timelines, coordinating with agencies, freelancers, and internal teams, while tracking expenses within set budgets.
  • Research and Concept Development: Contribute to the ideation process and support the creation of in-depth narratives that provide unique insights into significant corporate and industry trends.
  • Innovation and Trend Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, economic shifts, and global events to recommend enhancements in content strategies and the integration of new media technologies.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and nurture relationships with key industry figures, corporate leaders, and subject matter experts to obtain exclusive insights and information.
  • Performance Monitoring: Assist in tracking and reporting on the effectiveness of content initiatives, utilizing data to propose strategies for improved engagement and broader reach.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in content strategy and creation, particularly for B2B audiences, with a portfolio demonstrating strong storytelling and editorial capabilities.
  • Proficiency in digital media, including SEO, social media marketing, and content management systems (Adobe Experience Manager preferred).
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and manage content projects.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of content marketing strategies, market segmentation, and the execution of content projects from conception to completion.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to craft clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills to distill complex information into engaging and accessible content.
  • Proficiency in digital media tools, multimedia storytelling techniques, and content management systems.
  • Familiarity with business principles, economic concepts, and the dynamics of corporate environments.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Project management skills focused on delivering high-quality content within deadlines.
  • A passion for SHRM's mission and a commitment to advancing the HR profession.

Work Environment:

  • Work is typically performed in a combination of office and conference settings, utilizing standard office equipment.
  • Expected office presence of three days per week.
  • Minimal travel requirements, less than 10%.
