The Social Media Content Specialist will be responsible for crafting, researching, and managing content across various social media platforms to highlight significant scientific activities and events.

The specialist will collaborate with the social media team and report directly to the Creative Services Branch Chief.

Key Responsibilities:
Creating, writing, and coordinating engaging content while sourcing multimedia elements for the organization's social media profiles, including:

• Coverage of significant events, announcements, and observances
• Crafting speeches
• Highlighting events featuring senior leadership and prominent agency content

• Planning, drafting, and developing digital engagement strategies to address complex scientific topics, thereby supporting the agency's mission
• Producing social media content that effectively communicates and clarifies important and intricate scientific programs and research outcomes
• Assisting in the evaluation of agency-wide digital engagement initiatives and compiling results into comprehensive reports
• Providing expertise in assessing public attitudes and actions to refine and enhance digital engagement strategies
• Collaborating with scientists and personnel in the preparation and review of social media materials
• Ensuring the accuracy of social media content through consultation with subject-matter experts and relevant officials
• Offering editing and proofreading support throughout all phases of content development
• Coordinating with external social media managers for agency events
• Participating in planning meetings to align content with upcoming events
• Representing the social media team in various meetings
• Working with analytics professionals to generate regular reports on account engagement and performance
• Ensuring that all campaigns are accurately represented on social media platforms
• Providing support for all organizational social media accounts as required

Essential Qualifications and Skills:
• Profound understanding of social media strategies and principles
• Exceptional writing and editing capabilities
• Ability to simplify complex scientific content for diverse audiences
• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in social media management, particularly in scientific or technical fields

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience collaborating with scientists or within academic settings
• Familiarity with federal plain language guidelines and AP style

Work Environment:
This position operates in a hybrid setting, requiring onsite presence two days a week.
May involve evening and weekend commitments for live events and conferences.
