Chapter Next - Let Lockheed Martin be the next step in your Journey Back to the workforce.
Have you taken some extended time away from your career in support of family or personal obligations? At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), we recognize that sometimes we must pause our professional life to support our family and loved ones.
After stepping away from the workplace to care for children, aging parents, or other family commitments, the road to re-entering the workforce can be challenging and, at times, daunting.
This is where Chapter Next can be part of your solution.Chapter Next is a 12-16 week paid returnship hosted by RMS.
Candidates who have taken a professional career hiatus for at least 1+ years will be eligible to apply to this program.
During this returnship, participants will become part of a community of similarly experienced professionals with challenging work scopes that contribute to the great innovation produced by Lockheed Martin. Selected candidates will be exposed to comprehensive training, professional development opportunities, networking opportunities, and individualized mentoring.Our goal is to provide the essential tools needed to be successful in your career field and to potentially prepare you for an opportunity to join Lockheed Martin full-time.
Fields of focus will be diverse across the program and include functional and technical opportunities.This returnship position is within Systems Engineering and will be located in a designated facility.
This position will support various programs through Flight Management System (FMS) embedded software design and testing in an Agile Development environment.
Responsibilities will include software requirements development and software test development/execution as a member of an agile scrum team.Reporting to the FMS team in the Air Vehicle Products & Solutions department, the selected individual will contribute to the Engineering and Technology Mission Systems organization in the following ways:
- Collaborate with a development team to plan and execute incremental software updates
- Develop software requirements
- Execute software test development
- Conduct software test execution
- Participate in internal and customer reviews of deliverable product increments
Basic Qualifications
- Engineering or equivalent 4-year science degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Software coding experience (C, C++, ADA)
- Experience with Requirements management applications (DOORS)
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with Agile Development methodologies - Scrum or Kanban
- Aviation knowledge or experience
- Familiarity with avionics (Radios, Navigation, Displays)
- Experience with Model Based System Engineering
- Familiarity with Required Area Navigation (R-NAV)
- Familiarity with version control systems

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five-day work week while others may be condensed.
These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
