Position Overview

Welcome to Chapter Next - a unique opportunity to reintegrate into the workforce with Lockheed Martin.

Have you taken a significant break from your professional journey to care for family or manage personal commitments? At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), we recognize that life sometimes necessitates a pause in your career.

Returning to work after a hiatus can be daunting, but Chapter Next is designed to support you in this transition.

This 12-16 week paid returnship is tailored for individuals who have been away from their careers for at least one year. Participants will join a community of peers, engaging in meaningful projects that drive innovation at Lockheed Martin.

Selected candidates will benefit from extensive training, professional development, networking opportunities, and personalized mentoring.

Our mission is to equip you with the essential skills to thrive in your chosen field and potentially pave the way for a full-time role at Lockheed Martin.

This returnship focuses on Systems Engineering and will involve working on critical programs.

Responsibilities will encompass software requirements development and testing within an Agile Development framework.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a development team to strategize and implement software updates
  • Develop software requirements
  • Create and execute software tests
  • Participate in internal and client reviews of deliverables

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in software coding (C, C++, ADA)
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (DOORS)

Preferred Skills

  • Understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban
  • Knowledge of aviation systems
  • Experience with avionics (Radios, Navigation, Displays)
  • Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering
  • Familiarity with Required Area Navigation (R-NAV)
  • Experience with version control systems
