Job Overview

Salary: $21.00-$25.00 per hour.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Medical Manager, the Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in facilitating the efficient daily operations of the medical schedule. The incumbent will be tasked with the fundamental and routine scheduling of patient appointments, including those with specialty providers. Responsibilities include managing multiple phone lines, inputting patient information into a computerized system, and verifying insurance details. The Medical Receptionist will also perform various clerical duties as necessary. In the absence of a Patient Coordinator, this role will operate under the direct supervision of the Medical Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Schedule routine appointments for patients.
  2. Answer and direct phone calls to the appropriate staff or department.
  3. Input patient registration data into the computer system.
  4. Verify and update patient registration and insurance information.
  5. Check patient insurance eligibility.
  6. Assist with data entry into the RPMS System as needed.
  7. Ensure eligibility for each visit on a daily basis and process information accordingly.
  8. Handle patient self-pay applications.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  1. Perform other assigned tasks as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  2. At least 1 year of experience in an office setting, preferably in medical office procedures and patient records.
  3. Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
  4. Experience managing multiple phone lines.
  5. Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  7. Familiarity with basic concepts in the medical field and a fundamental understanding of related technical functions.
  8. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Possession of a valid CDL and eligibility for the Tribe's auto insurance.
  10. Hepatitis B Vaccine or declination form must be on file (vaccine available at designated health center).
  11. Post-offer requirements include CPR/BLS certification, TB test, and annual flu shot during flu season, unless a medical or religious accommodation is requested.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bilingual candidates, particularly Spanish/English, are strongly preferred.

Preference in hiring will be given to the most qualified applicants. However, when candidates are equally qualified, preference will be given to Native American candidates in accordance with established guidelines.
