Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of the Shingle Springs Tribal Health Program and direct supervision from the Health Systems Administrator, the incumbent will manage all business office communications between the clinic and the billing entity, assist with provider credentialing, and facilitate patient payment processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collect daily payments from all departments; track and report these payments to finance and the billing entity.
  2. Sort and transmit all business office correspondence to the billing entity and distribute as necessary.
  3. Prepare and submit insurance payments for finance deposits; enter pharmacy payments into the system.
  4. Act as the primary contact for credentialing providers with payers on-site.
  5. Process patient payments received via phone.
  6. Review and merge duplicate visits in the coding queue on a daily basis.
  7. Engage in the Quality Improvement Program.
  8. Provide backup scanning support as required.
  9. Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Understanding of federal regulations and standards related to patient confidentiality.
  2. Proficient in the use of general office equipment and computer systems.
  3. Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute.
  4. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  5. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  6. One year of experience or training in the following areas is preferred:
    1. Medical Terminology
    2. CPT – ICD 10
    3. Spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
    4. Medical billing
  7. Post-offer requirements include CPR/BLS certification, TB testing, and annual flu vaccination, unless a medical or religious exemption is provided. Hepatitis B vaccination will be offered at no cost but is not mandatory.

NATIVE PREFERENCE:

Preference in hiring will be given to the most qualified candidates. In cases where candidates are equally qualified, Native American candidates will receive preference in accordance with established guidelines. Verification of Indian eligibility is required for applicants claiming Indian preference.
